Upload
The process of sending files from a local device to a server or cloud storage over the internet.
Uploading is the process of sending files from a local device (computer or smartphone) to a server or cloud storage via the internet. Common examples include posting photos to social media, backing up to cloud storage, and loading images into web-based tools.
Upload speed depends on the internet connection's upstream bandwidth. Typical fiber connections offer 100-1000 Mbps upload, while mobile connections may be limited to 10-50 Mbps. Reducing file size with the image compression tool before uploading shortens transfer time.
Browser-based uploads use drag and drop or file selection dialogs. Many web services impose upload size limits (5MB, 10MB, etc.), so checking file size beforehand ensures a smooth experience.
