Download

The process of receiving and saving files from a server or cloud storage to a local device.

Downloading is the process of receiving files from an internet server or cloud storage and saving them to a local device. Saving images from websites, retrieving edited photos, and installing applications all constitute downloads.

Download speed depends on the internet connection's downstream bandwidth. Typical fiber connections offer 100-1000 Mbps download speeds, completing a 10MB image transfer in under one second. Browser-based image tools typically provide a download button to save processed results.

Downloaded files are usually saved to the OS-designated Downloads folder. Checking the file extension reveals the saved format. Results from the image compression tool or image conversion tool are only saved to the device once downloaded.
