About This Tool
Supported formats: zip, 7z, rar, lzh (lha), cab, iso and tar, plus tar.gz (tgz), tar.bz2, tar.xz, tar.zst and single gz, bz2, xz, zst and Z files. It also opens password-protected zip, 7z and rar; split zip (.z01…), 7z (.7z.001…), rar (.part1.rar…, .r00…) and cab archives; and zipx, jar and self-extracting exe files (zip and rar). For zip and lzh, the file name encoding is detected automatically, and you can pick another one if names still look garbled. Your files never leave this device. There is no size limit for the archive itself. Each extracted file can be up to 1 GB (with “Save to a folder” in Chrome and Edge, there is no limit). On a phone, aim to extract no more than a few hundred MB.
Tips
You can open 7z, rar and other archives in your browser, even on a phone. A zip made on Windows often shows garbled Japanese file names on a Mac because the names are stored in Shift_JIS without a mark saying so. Are my files sent anywhere?
No. Opening and extracting happen entirely in this browser, and neither the contents nor the file names leave your device.
What should I do if file names are garbled?
For zip and lzh, the file name encoding is detected automatically. If names still look garbled, choose another option such as Shift_JIS or GBK under “File name encoding”, and the names are shown again in that encoding. Saved files also use these names.
Can I open password-protected archives?
Yes. Password-protected zip, 7z and rar archives are supported. A password field appears; enter the password to see the list of contents. The password is not saved.
How do I open a split archive?
Select or drop all the parts together. Split zip (.z01…), 7z (.7z.001…), rar (.part1.rar…, .r00…) and cab archives are supported. If a part is missing, its name is shown.
Can I extract a whole folder?
Yes. Press “Save” on a folder’s row to save everything in it as a ZIP with its folder structure kept. In Chrome and Edge, “Save to a folder” writes the files straight to a location you choose.
