Favicon
A small icon image displayed in browser tabs, bookmarks, and history, serving as a visual identifier for a website.
A favicon (Favorite Icon) is a small icon displayed in browser tabs, bookmark lists, and history pages. Typically a miniaturized version of a site's logo or symbol, it helps users quickly identify websites when multiple tabs are open.
Standard favicon sizes are 16x16 and 32x32 pixels, but modern best practices include 180x180 pixels (Apple Touch Icon) and 192x192 pixels (Android) for high-density displays. File formats include the traditional ICO format as well as PNG and SVG, which are now widely supported.
Creating a favicon starts with a square logo image, then using the resize tool to generate each required size. Since fine details become illegible at small dimensions, simple and highly recognizable designs work best. For a complete creation workflow, see the Favicon Creation Guide.
