Image Size

A measure of image dimensions, referring either to pixel dimensions (width x height) or file size (data volume in KB/MB).

Image size has two meanings: pixel dimensions (width and height in pixels) and file size (data volume in KB or MB). When someone says an image is large, context determines which meaning applies.

Pixel dimensions directly relate to resolution. For example, 1920x1080px equals Full HD and 3840x2160px equals 4K. For web use, resizing images to match the display area prevents unnecessarily large data transfers. Each social platform has recommended sizes: Instagram posts use 1080x1080px, and X (formerly Twitter) headers use 1500x500px.

File size depends not only on pixel dimensions but also on image format and compression level. At the same dimensions, PNG files tend to be larger than JPEG. The image compression tool reduces file size while maintaining visual quality.
